In 1902, Olbrich built the house for Wilhelm Deiters, director of the first exhibition of the Artists‘ Colony.
The house with its distinctive corner tower and with a surface area of about 9 square metres, is the smallest of the seven homes which Olbrich had designed for the exhibition in 1901, "A Document of German Art“.
